Members of the Board of Trustees
Josi Garcia consults with schools and families supporting children and adolescents with special needs. She has been a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) for 11 years and has a Masters in Education in Special Education with a concentration in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). She has 14 years of experience working with children and adolescents with special needs and supporting the IEP team in the educational setting.
Josi has consulted with schools throughout Montgomery, Bucks, Berks, Lehigh, and Northampton counties as well as Mental Health organizations in the Lehigh Valley. She enjoys teaching education courses at Lehigh Carbon Community College and is committed to furthering knowledge about acceptance and inclusion of children with varying educational needs.
She lives with her husband, two kids and dog in Northampton. In her free time she enjoys serving at Seven Generations, running, hiking, gardening, and good conversation with friends and family around the table with homegrown food.
Ben Loomis, Secretary, Coordinator
Ben is a graduate of Penn State University with a B.S. in mechanical engineering technology and holds a certificate as a project management professional from Project Management International. Ben has served as a Research and Development Engineer for B. Braun Medical, Inc. since 1998 and is a Seven Generations Charter School Founding Member. He lives in Topton with his wife, Claire and two daughters, Lily and Jade, who are both students at Seven Generations.
John presently works in new business development and sales. His background includes marketing for The Lehigh County-Department of Community and Economic Development, public relations management for several advertising agencies including Stiegler, Wells, Brunswick & Roth and regional sales for ADT Security Services and others. He has a MS in Public Relations from Boston University and a BA in Communications from Temple University.
His career also includes 15 years of professional development and fundraising with associations such as The Salvation Army, America on Wheels and Lehigh Valley Christian High School where he also served on its Board. He is a past 10 year volunteer with the Lehigh County’s 4-H Equine Club and is now an active volunteer for two missionary organizations.
He, and his wife, and daughter reside in Wescosville. He enjoys fitness training, sports, visiting historical sites and is an avid writer and photographer.
He welcomes serving on the Board of Trustees to help advance the school and assist in seeing its students enjoy an enriched education.
Stephen Peters, Ph.D., Treasurer
Steve has worked as a professor of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Lehigh University since 2003. He earned degrees from Bates College, Dartmouth College, and the University of Michigan. His research and teaching focus on the biogeochemistry, hydrology and geology of Earth. Steve is committed to supporting the environmentally connected learning woven throughout the Seven Generations Charter School curriculum.
He earned a certificate from the Tuck School of Business and has experience managing facilities. On the board, he helps with finances, facilities planning, and supporting the curriculum.
Steve lives with his family in Zionsville, and they enjoy camping, gardening, and sailing.
Alan (Al) Russell, Ph.D., Coordinator
Al retired after 30+ years working for Air Products. He also taught computer science and information systems at DeSales University for twenty-five years in their evening programs. He has an MS in computer science, an MBA in management, and a PhD in information systems. He has over 80 years of collective experience working on non-profit boards, many of those years as the board chair.
He volunteered for many years with AFS Intercultural Programs, one of the oldest and largest exchange student organizations in the world. For both Air Products and AFS, he has traveled extensively.
He lives in Zionsville with his wife, daughter, and four grandsons, the oldest ones being students at Seven Gen.
He volunteered to serve on the Board of Trustees not only because he believes in the mission of the school, but because he wants to use the skills that he has acquired in serving on the board of other organizations to benefit the school. His skills include not only leadership, but governance, policy, and finance.
