6th Grade Participates in STEM challenge

Our 6th grade team participated in the Lehigh Valley K’NEX challenge!
They dreamed up and built a ship prototype that has many ways to collect trash and micro plastics from the ocean in order to meet the design challenge of solving an environmental problem.
They had to build this from the ground up in two hours on site after working on getting it just right and making countless changes and adjustment to it at school during all their free time.
Many other teams in our age category were older than our students and were using a photograph of their design to build. These kiddos went just off of their own hand-drawn, schematic and blue print.
Unfortunately, we did not place, but the bond these five have formed over the weeks, what we learned today, and the effort and teamwork they poured into this is the real prize. The best part? They know it too and were happy just to be there and experience it and try their best. Watch out Lehigh Valley, we’re going to be back next year to slay the competition!
