Diana knew from a young age that she wanted to be a teacher and work with children. Growing up in NJ, she was frequently a mother’s helper and/or babysitter for local families in the small town of Glen Rock. She graduated from Montclair State University in NJ in 2005, with dual certifications in Early Childhood and Elementary Education.
After starting a family in 2005, Diana grew increasingly interested in early childhood education. She was a daycare director for several years at a daycare in NJ and even commuted there after relocating to Pennsylvania in 2008. After some time, she decided to try to find a job in Pennsylvania and landed at Community Services for Children, in Allentown, where she worked for several years as a lead teacher for Head Start in many different locations throughout Allentown, Bethlehem, and even Slatington, PA. Concurrently, she worked on her Masters of Education. When her son turned 5 in 2010, she found and fell in love with Seven Generations Charter School, and enrolled him there for Kindergarten. Shortly after completing her Masters Degree with a Reading Specialist certification, she joined the Seven Gen family as a staff member as a part time reading specialist in 2011.
Following some time as the school’s reading specialist, Diana applied for an open fourth grade position, where she spent the next several years as the school’s fourth grade teacher. In the 2020-2021 school year, Diana met a new and unprecedented need and became the school’s first virtual educator. During a year of flux and change, she provided families that wanted it a fully virtual education as closely aligned to the Seven Gen curriculum as possible in a virtual setting.
In the 2021-22 school year, Diana applied for and got a position new to the school; Seven Gen’s first-ever Instructional Coach. As Instructional Coach, Diana provides coaching, mentorship, and support to teachers and staff of all grade levels. Her favorite part is getting to be part of many different classroom communities!
