Shonne has been an elementary educator for more than two decades, serving as a K–4 classroom teacher, mentor teacher, and more. She began her career in Northern Virginia and most recently spent seven years teaching at United Friends School in Quakertown, a school whose values and practices closely aligned with those of SGCS. Her experience in progressive education and independent schools in both Virginia and Pennsylvania has shaped her deep commitment to student-centered learning.
Shonne holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. She brings to SGCS a passion for creating learning experiences that honor students’ curiosity, individuality, and love of discovery.
Shonne lives in Perkasie with her husband, Denny; their daughter, Layla; and their two silly cats. She also has a bonus-daughter, Maddie, who recently graduated from DeSales. Family is central to her life, and she especially cherishes the time they spend together.
Outside of school, Shonne enjoys exploring, spending time with friends, reading, and watching documentaries and movies. She also loves the arts, music, crafting, gardening, painting, and being outdoors. She has a particular passion for collecting, always finding joy in discovering something new or meaningful.
Shonne believes that learning is a lifelong pursuit. She approaches both her work and personal life with curiosity, enthusiasm, and a commitment to continued growth.
