Born and raised in the Upper Perkiomen Valley, Brook Graves joined our staff as a Special Education Support Teacher, then became a fifth-grade classroom teacher in 2010. With an undergraduate degree in criminal justice administration from Central Pennsylvania College, she went on to earn her M.Ed. at Lehigh University with dual certification in special education N-12 and elementary education K-6. She worked as a Teacher Associate at Centennial School of Lehigh University, a special education day school for students with emotional behavior disturbances and autism, during the 2008-2009 school year. While there she assisted in the preparation and implementation of Individualized Education Programs, unit and lesson plans, positive behavior supports and behavior intervention plans. In fall 2009, she was also a Student Teacher with the Bethlehem Area School District where she wrote and taught lesson plans in all academic subjects.
Brook has learned over the years that each and every day is a gift. It is important to live life to the fullest because one never knows what the next day will bring. To that end, she enjoys an active life filled with hobbies and sports: In winter she is out on the mountain skiing and snowboarding; when it’s warm, she rides her mountain bike, hikes, swims and plays Lacrosse, or spends days tending the fresh vegetables in her garden. What is it like to teach at Seven Generations?
I am very thankful for the opportunity to be part of such a great team! By “team” I mean the staff, students, and parents of Seven Gen.
Emily Roman is from Worcester, PA, located in Montgomery County. From a young age, Emily loved working with children and always knew one day she would become a teacher. Emily recently graduated from Kutztown University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education for Middle-Level Grades 4-8th. During Emily’s time at Kutztown, she volunteered as a tutor at local middle schools, participated in Writer’s Workshop at Kutztown Elementary, and especially loved planning the Annual Middle School Day at Kutztown University. Emily also held the position as Co-President for the Association for Middle-Level Education at Kutztown and was a presenter at national education conferences, including Austin, TX. Emily worked for Club Z In-Home Tutoring Services and privately tutored children in her hometown.
In Emily’s free time she enjoys running, hiking, reading and spending time with family and friends. She loves to play field hockey and lacrosse and loves to watch NFL football. During the summer months, you will find her at the shore relaxing on the beach!
Emily fell in love with Seven Gen from the moment she arrived. She believes that the friendly atmosphere and the acceptance of her creativity will help her strive to be the best teacher for her 5th-grade classroom.
